Dr. Dorothy Hitchmoth is a board-certified diplomate and is VA residency trained. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the Optometric Retina Society. She is the founding executive director of the Center for Healthy Aging at the New England Eye Institute and maintains a special interest in disease prevention and integrative medicine.
Dr. Hitchmoth is currently Chief of Optometry with the Department of Veterans Affairs, White River Junction, Vermont. She is the director of the optometry residency program and executive director of eye care programs and research. She is a clinical professor for several colleges of Optometry. She is also a clinical instructor for Dartmouth medical residents. Dr. Hitchmoth owns a private practice in Hanover, NH and is C.E.O. of New England Telehealth.
Dr. Hitchmoth is also very active in organized Optometry and her community. She is a former New Hampshire Optometric Association President and has served in many capacities at the nationally for the American Optometric Association. She is the recipient of many awards to include the Disabled American Veterans Distinguished Service Award, the NECO-ALCON Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching, the 2003 American Optometric Associations Young Optometrist of the Year, the New Hampshire Optometrist of the Year, and was named a New Hampshire Union Leader Top Forty under Forty for her work on behalf of New Hampshire citizens.
