Carrie Nelson, DNP, FNP-C

I am excited to be on this adventure with Stephanie and her clinic! I have been practicing as a PCP for about 4 years. Since my time in graduate school, I've desired to work in independent practice given the obvious positive difference in the care delivered outside of the big systems. I got my first taste of healthcare working at my local nursing home as a CNA in high school. Helping others was something that gave me purpose and solidified my desire to enter the nursing field. I graduated from NDSU with my undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees and currently teach at NDSU in the nurse practitioner program. I enjoy teaching both students and patients. I feel helping patients learn more about their health is the most powerful medicine we can provide a patient working in primary care. I hope to help each patient understand the conditions they are at risk for so they can make active lifestyle moves to prevent disease and hopefully avoid medications and long-term health complications. I worked in medical research for several years and deeply understand the importance of incorporating the best and most recent medical evidence into the care I provide. My practice interests include increasing access to care via telehealth, mental health, and primary care in general. I look forward to establishing a long-standing relationship with my patients at Amend!
