Joanna Wolicki-Shannon

Dr. Joanna Wolicki Shannon is a distinguished psychiatrist with a strong commitment to community mental health and integrated care. She graduated with honors in Biology from East Carolina University, where she also completed her medical degree at the ECU School of Medicine in May 1996. In 1999, she earned her Doctor of Psychiatric Medicine from East Carolina University, followed by specialized training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2001.

Dr. Shannon is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and Board Eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association APA, the North Carolina Psychiatric Association NCPA, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry AACAP.

Currently, Dr. Shannon serves as a psychiatrist on the Assertive Community Treatment ACT Team at ClientFirst of North Carolina, where she provides compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Her professional focus is on community mental health, with a passion for meeting clients where they are and supporting recovery in real-world environments. She is also part of our outpatient medication management team.

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Shannon enjoys watching TikTok videos, working in her yard, and spending time with her family. She is married to Dr. Walter Shannon, and together they have two children.
