I have extensive experience working with the underserved medical community in rural Northern California. Born in Orland, CA and raised and educated in Chico, CA, I developed an interest in medicine thanks to the 1970s television show Emergency. I became one of the first junior volunteers at Chico Community Hospital in the mid 80s and after graduating high school, I decided to enroll in the United States Army to get money for school and see the world.
Upon returning from the military and graduating from nursing school, I wanted to learn to speak Spanish and work in a rural healthcare clinic. There I met and fell in love with family practice medicine and met a physician associate who told me I should go back to school to become a nurse practitioner to provide primary care to rural migrant communities too. After graduating from UC Davis with my Family Nurse Practitioner and Physician Associate certificates, I continued my employment with Del Norte Clinics for nine years, working at many of their sites and helping to start their telehealth program. Since 2008 I have worked at a rural health center in Orland, CA. I precept many mid-level and medical students using evidence-based medicine to provide high quality care to our patients and families.
I joined the Glenn County Alliance for Prevention and worked on the Opioid Task Force. Seeing many people die from unintentional overdoses in our county and recognizing the need for chronic pain management treatment, I applied for and received a scholarship to the Train the Trainer Fellowship in Pain Management at UC Davis, graduating in 2021. While participating in multiple community advisory committees in our area, I noticed the lack of access to psychiatric services, so I applied for and received a scholarship to the UC Irvine Train the Trainers Psychiatry Fellowship and graduated from that program in 2022.
In my spare time I am a volunteer firefighter In Orland, CA; I have served as the First Assistant Chief for many years and the past President of the Glenn County Fire Chiefs Association. I was elected to the Orland City Council in 2022. I enjoy volunteering to write grants for nonprofit groups in our area and giving back to my community.
I've been married to my wonderful wife Bethany of 25 years, who is a high school Spanish teacher, and we have two amazing children, Aries and Rory. When Im not helping others, I like to escape to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to decompress and relax.
Tengo amplia experiencia trabajando con comunidades mdicas desatendidas en las zonas rurales del norte de California. Nacido en Orland, CA, y crecido y educado en Chico, CA, desarroll un inters por la medicina gracias a la serie de televisin Emergency de la dcada de 1970. Me convert en uno de los primeros voluntarios juveniles del Chico Community Hospital a mediados de los aos ochenta y, despus de graduarme de la preparatoria, decid alistarme en el Ejrcito de los Estados Unidos para obtener fondos para mis estudios y conocer el mundo.

All descubr mi pasin por la medicina familiar y conoc a un asociado mdico que me anim a regresar a la escuela para convertirme en enfermero practicante para proporcionar atencin primaria tambin a comunidades rurales migrantes. Tras graduarme de UC Davis con los certificados de Family Nurse Practitioner y Physician Associate, continu trabajando en Del Norte Clinics durante nueve aos, laborando en varios de sus sitios y ayudando a iniciar su programa de telemedicina. Desde 2008 he trabajado en una clnica rural de salud en Orland, CA. En mi tiempo libre he sido bombero voluntario en Orland, CA; serv durante muchos aos como Primer Jefe Asistente y como Presidente pasado de la Glenn County Fire Chiefs Association. Fui elegido miembro del Concejo Municipal de Orland en 2022. Disfruto colaborar como voluntario redactando subvenciones para organizaciones sin fines de lucro en nuestra rea y retribuyendo a mi comunidad.
Estoy casado desde hace 25 aos con mi maravillosa esposa Bethany, quien es profesora de espaol en una escuela secundaria, y tenemos dos hijos increbles, Aries y Rory. Cuando no estoy ayudando a los dems, me gusta escaparme a Puerto Vallarta, Mxico, para relajarme y recargar energas.
