Jonathan Martens

My name is Jonathan Martens, and I have worked in the medical field for over ten years. From an early age, I aspired to become a physician. I understood that the path would require perseverance, resilience, and disciplined effort, so I intentionally built my career step by step.

I began as a Certified Nursing Assistant CNA, where I developed a strong foundation in direct patient care. I later earned my nursing license and was honored to receive the DAISY Award in recognition of compassionate and high-quality care during that period of my career. Motivated to expand my clinical impact and scope of practice, I returned to school to obtain my Nurse Practitioner licensure.

With the support of my close colleagues, Keith C. and John M., I co-founded Placita Mobile Primary. Our practice was established with a mission to close care gaps and reduce healthcare disparities within Pima County by bringing primary care services directly to patients in their homes. Through mobile medicine, we have successfully improved access for vulnerable populations who might otherwise face barriers to care. Our long-term vision includes expanding our outreach model and eventually extending services internationally.

I have been deeply grateful for the opportunities, mentorship, and professional relationships that have shaped my journey. Looking ahead, my ultimate goal remains to attend medical school and further advance my clinical training. I hope to pursue this next chapter at the University of Arizona, where I can continue serving the community while refining my expertise as a physician. Afterwards, I will continue leading our program as the medical director while striving to meet the needs of those with socioeconomic and health care related disparities.
