About
Jorge Betancor, MD, is an Interventional Cardiologist, with a unique expertise in all of the cardiovascular imaging modalities Echocardiography, Computed Tomography CT, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI, which he acquired at the Cleveland Clinic, ranked the 1 hospital for cardiology and heart surgery
by U.S. News World Report for more than 20 years. As an interventional cardiologist, Dr Betancor additionally specialized in the repair and replacement of malfunctioning heart valves at Swedish Medical Center, one of the top institutions nationwide in catheter-based valvular interventions. He is passionate about being able to offer patients a non-surgical, minimally invasive, catheter-based solution to both valvular and coronary arterial diseases, with particular emphasis on regurgitation leakage and stenosis narrowing of mitral, tricuspid, and aortic valves, as well as coronary interventions angioplasties and stents via both
radial and femoral approach wrist and groin access respectively.

A native of Cuba, raised in Colombia, Dr. Betancor has been in the US since the age of 17. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Florida International University, and his medical degree from St. George's University Medical School, Grenada, where he graduated with the highest honors. He completed both his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida, where he served as Chief Fellow, under the guidance of Dr Craig Asher, one of the best Echocardiographers and his greatest mentor, who above all instilled in him the value of cardiac imaging.

Recognizing the importance of truly understanding cardiac imaging as well as his mentor did, and keeping in mind that small errors in interpretation could potentially have a dramatic impact on patients' lives, prior to applying to interventional cardiology, Jorge decided to pursue a two-year fellowship in Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging at Cleveland Clinic, OH, where he learned to use multiple imaging modalities to solve the most complex of clinical cardiology problems and guide the cutting-edge structural interventions of the current era.

After completing his advanced imaging training at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr Betancor completed a one-year Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, Richmond, VA. For the next four years, Jorge practiced Interventional Cardiology and advanced cardiac
imaging in Miami, FL, where his family currently resides. In 2021 Jorge decided it was time to put together his strong imaging background and his interventional skills, to learn how to repair andor replace malfunctioning heart valves without
the need for open-heart surgery. He applied only to the top-notch programs in the country, and was selected to complete a one-year, world-class Fellowship in Structural Heart Disease at Swedish Medical Center, under the mentorship of Dr Sameer Gafoor.

After an 18-year-long career, 7 national boards, two-dozen publications, and 4 different cardiology fellowships, Dr Betancor is excited to bring his expertise in cardiac imaging and cutting-edge cardiac procedures to this community of diverse individuals with the main desire to stay healthy and enjoy every minute of
life without debilitating symptoms.
