About
Katharine Stratigos, MD, is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Department of Psychiatry, NY, NY on voluntary faculty. She graduated from Brown University with honors in Psychology before attending medical school at New York University. She completed her residency in general psychiatry at Columbia University New York State Psychiatric Institute and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the combined Columbia Cornell New York-Presbyterian Hospital program.

Dr. Stratigos' clinical and educational expertise is in the evaluation and treatment of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and psychiatric comorbidities, including autism spectrum disorders. Dr Stratigos was one of the teaching faculty for the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Columbia from 2009-2017. From 2011- 2015, she oversaw the supervision of fellows during their year-long Neuropsychiatry rotation, taught a related curriculum on developmental disabilities, and ran the associated clinical service. She also served as a preceptor for medical students in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Currently in addition to private practice, Dr Stratigos is the Medical Director of the NYSTART program, a crisis management program for individuals with developmental disabilities and psychiatric diagnoses. This program is funded through New York State Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities and housed at YAI: National Institute for People with Disabilities.

In her private practice, Dr Stratigos works effectively with child, adolescent, and adult patients suffering from a variety of conditions, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety disorders, OCD, adolescent depression, and adjustment disorders. She provides both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, the later informed by psychodynamic, family, and cognitive behavioral therapy principles.
