About
Myron Zitt, MD is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and is a practicing allergist with the Mid Island Allergy Group with offices in Plainview, Babylon and Holbrook, New York. In addition, he is the Director of the Adult Allergy Clinic and an Attending Physician in Medicine at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York.
Dr Zitt received his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He completed a residency in Medicine at Long Island College Hospital and a fellowship in Allergy-Immunology and Chest Disease at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. During the Viet Nam conflict he served as a Major in the United States Air Force, where he co-directed the Allergy Clinic at Keesler AFB in Biloxi Mississippi. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Allergy and Immunology.
Dr Zitt is a Fellow of the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology, where he is Past President and has served on its Executive Committee, Board of Regents and ACAAI Foundation. He has previously chaired the Program and the Pharmaceutical Symposium Committees as well the Scientific Council, CMECPD, Credentials and Abstract, Sports Medicine, Past Presidents and International Committees and remains active on the Public Relations, International and Asthma Committees. Dr Zitt is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology and a member of the American Thoracic Society. He has recently completed a 10-year stint on the Board of Directors for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America where he served as Vice President of Research and has completed two terms on the Board of Directors of the World Allergy Organization, where he chaired the Emerging Societies Committee.
Dr Zitt is a Past President of the Long Island Allergy and Asthma Society. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Joint Council of Allergy Asthma and Immunology as well as on the Editorial Board of the Annals of Allergy Asthma Immunology. He has published numerous scientific papers and abstracts and lectured both nationally and internationally on topics regarding asthma, allergy and anaphylaxis. Highlights include the Bela Schick Lectureship, and the Robert T Scanlon Memorial Lectureship, while recognition awards include the Distinguished Fellow Award of the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology and the Outstanding Clinician Award of the World Allergy Organization.
