Peter E. Franklin, M.D.

Peter E. Franklin M.D. is a native San Franciscan, growing up in the St. Francis Woods neighborhood, while attending Notre Dames des Victoires, and St. Ignatius College Prepatory School. He received a BA from the University of Arizona and conducted his pre-medical studies at University of California, Santa Barbara with an emphasis in Organic Chemistry.



Dr. Franklin received his M.D. from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington D.C. in 1985, followed by an internship at the University of California Irvine VA Medical Center, Long Beach, CA and residency training at the University of California Davis in Sacramento, CA. He is a member of the Monterey Medical Society and has maintained his Family Medical practice in the same location in Monterey since 1989.

Dr. Franklin is a Certified Dive Physician registered with Divers Alert Network at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. He is honored to be the Dive Physician for the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA. He is also a member of the Teaching Team of Breakthrough Mens Community. Dr. Franklin is married with three grown children, two grown step-daughters and the proud grandfather of a 2 year old. His interests include exercising on Carmel Beach with his Cavalier King Charles spaniel dogs, playing the ukulele he owns 23! and he has been known to play Happy Birthday to patients when they come in on or around their birthday. He also is a proud SF 49er fanatic, a SF Giants fan and an avid gardener.
