Richard Hochman, DPM

Dr. Richard Hochman has been practicing podiatry for more than 20 years, and throughout his career he has enjoyed learning the newest and most effective treatments to help his patients.

Dr. Hochman was one of the first podiatrists in Miami to use laser technology to reduce varicose veins, and about the same time, he also began using sclerotherapy where salt water is injected into the vein to treat spider veins in his patients legs and feet. His practice also uses lasers to eliminate fungal nail infections, whereas earlier treatments were more invasive. However, on a daily basis, Dr. Hochman also treats patients who need diabetic foot care, who are suffering from painful bunions or hammertoe, and he performs other elective foot surgeries.

Hochman grew up in New Jersey and attended Bowling Green University where he majored in biology. He moved to Miami after college and began working as a chemist at Cordis Corporation, now a division of Johnson Johnson. However, after two years, he began thinking about getting into medicine, and met a podiatrist who convinced him to get into the field. He applied and was accepted to the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and moved to Harlem.

After graduating, Dr. Hochman did an internship at the Veterans Affairs Hospital near downtown Miami, as well as at Larkin Hospital. He then opened his own private practice in 1980 in Coral Gables. In 1995, he partnered with Dr. David Cantor and they have recently expanded their practice to include Dr. Elbys Era. The practice also has a second office in West Kendall, which has been open for several years.
