Hi! Im Stephen Heacock, M.S. CCC-SLP and the founder and owner of Purple Mountain Speech Clinic.
While working in both home health and outpatient settings, I saw that there is a huge gap between the two for many people who struggle to leave the house. After being discharged from home care, patients are expected to make it to multiple out-of-the-house appointments each week to make time for physical, occupational, and speech therapy after JUST being considered housebound by home health.

My business brings outpatient speech therapy to the home via in-person and tele-health options so that transportation is no longer an issue and continuity of care is maintained for a better quality of life and healing.

My approach to treatment is based on the direct needs of the patient's daily needs goals. If a patient has difficulty with vocal loudness and is in a field where they talk all day, such as a professor might, I will tailor their treatment to focus on building strength and endurance of vocalization for teaching classes. For those who are older and receiving daily care, treatment would be geared towards functional phrases to make sure they are able to express their wants needs and carry on conversation.

I have been actively treating patients for 10 years and I came by this route with an undergraduate degree in psychology. It was the time of the big psychology boom of 2011 so I took a year off and worked with traumatic brain injuries in a helper sort of role. There, I was able to see speech therapy in action and decided to give it a try.

I have worked in all areas of adult healthcare- acute care, inpatient rehab, home health, outpatient, and now outpatient private practice. I have the following certifications in speech - Vital Stim; LSVT Loud Lee Silverman Voice Training.
