Verena Socolar, PhD, PMHNP-BC

I am a Board Certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing medication management as well as short-term therapy. I have worked in nursing for over 20 years in a variety of settings, including pain management and hospice. I describe myself as an existential-humanistic practitioner who integrates a broad base of counseling techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy CBT and mindfulness training.

My practice is rooted in holistic nursing. I see my role as helping people to reach their full potential and achieve their goals. To do so, I judiciously prescribe medications to alleviate excess anxiety, worry, anger, and lethargy. I believe that many issues also need to be addressed with other forms of therapy or life style changes.

I especially want to welcome members of the LGBTQ community, and I make a continuing effort to learn about their specific needs and treatment issues.
